About the programme
The MA in Creative Writing at UCT is a highly competitive programme, with aspiring writers from across Africa and around the world applying for a limited number of places. If you are accepted, you will have the opportunity to work with some of the best writers and academics in the field, and to develop your craft and voice as a writer. You will also be part of a vibrant and diverse community of writers, who share their ideas and feedback in workshops and seminars.
Entry Requirements
To apply for the MA in Creative Writing at UCT, you need to complete an online application form, and submit a portfolio of your writing (5,000 to 8,000 words) in the genre in which you wish to enrol. The portfolio is the most important part of your application, as it showcases your talent and potential as a writer. You also need to email a copy of your portfolio to the Centre Director, Prof. Imraan Coovadia.

3. Upload a copy of your portfolio when applying.
